SS Struts and Shocks
#11
IMHO for whatever that's worth. Our HHR SS at 32,000 is significantly less controlled than it was when new. It still handles better than the 2000 Z28 did when it was new, but not as well as the Z did with the Carerra coil-overs it ended up with. But if you ask my wife, she's got no clue it handles or rides any different, so a lot of it is perception.
Has anyone put the HHR yellow Koni's on a SS and knows if it works? I'd love to replace the current shocks if there's something a lot better out there.

laziano..what you said in your other thread was what I was after.. iwanted to see what owners were replacing with..all say the KYB's are F3 rated but was hoping someone would chime up and say they tried them and what they thought...I didnt come right out to ask because Im sure the "Pros" would have shot it down as if it were blasphemy, and didnt want that. So, with that said, I guess nobody will admit they did or what they did or even tried it, they might work just fine, depends on what level you want your car to handle at. Im sure all the against types all race their cars so, yes, it would be a step down. But those that occasionally romp on it,a DD vehicle, everyday runner, they might be ok.Its difficult to get the pros and cons when nobody steps up who actually tried it. I myself am thinking of going this route just because of availablility and price, its not like theres a big demand for the stockers( Delco F5) and they could dry up. It woud be nice to have an alternative without having to 2nd mortgage the house.

Kyb's all the way!
Love them... best ride for the money$ and i have used all different brands high & low end.
BTW MY SHOCKS STARTED LEAKING AT 20,000 miles so i didn't have a choice.
Love my ride now though.

Can you explain what differences from new you are seeing?
My ss handles amazingly well. It does not take rough roads very well I am assuming since
It has the fe5 suspension.but with your post I am curios if yours is not handling as well as new or if it also does not drivebas smoothly on rough roads as new.
