For anyone thinking their suspension is sacked before 50k, you might want to think about new tires first. My SS's handling had gone to crap, and it felt like the rear was bottoming on bad bumps. I just replaced the tires at 42K and the ride and handing magically returned. I'm shocked..I had no idea new tires would make such a difference.

I don't know where he got them, but Tire Rack has them...

They shouldn't be too hard to find. My only thought on this is that if you have lower or stiffer springs than stock, proceed with caution. Running them with stock springs and stock ride height is probably fine.

KYB makes the "GR2" strut/shock for tons of makes and models. It's a "factory" style strut or shock. Nothing special. I'd say they are valved near the same and would say the shafts are more than likely near stock lenght. The KYB's are probably a slight bit (hopefully) stiffer then stock which would help if you went with lowering springs. I'd definatly stay away from Monroe struts or shocks with lowering springs as they are really known for being soft.

I've currently run the GR2's on my 76 F150 and have had them on my old ZX2 in the past. I know they are totally different vehicles but I got "factory" replacements with the KYB name and the "GR2" designation.

Forgive my laziness as this may have been covered in this thread, so what are good options for struts for an SS that has been lowered?

Other than factory stock from Chevy, the KYB GR2's should be just fine I'd say. You may have another choice or two pending what your local auto shops have in stock.
