sorry to steal a thread,
i have similar problem, does not shift to 2nd. just noticed it and back it up to garage, so no codes yet.
We have been baby servicing since this is wife's HHR. So tranny oils have been changed every 40k miles.now odo reading is almost 90k miles
What solenoids there is recommended to buy? I guess the part I need are these:

Is it best option to go with original- or is it just gonna last as "short" as original did?

gee-whizzz i really hope those solenoids swap easier than removing the whole tranny!
i now tested car agaun after work, and it feels it does not want to move forward, like the handbrake would ve on (but it isnt!)
it moves normally in backwards on reverse.
i tested with my generic bluetooth gismo obdplus reader, but no fault codes. i started wondering if it is just tranny oil too low? but i havent noticed any leak of tranny oil.
anybody have a easy way to measure the correct amount of tranny oil? i quess i have to creep under the car and screw that plug out, which definately needs some kind of special tool or gimmick?

And if you don't have an 11 mm, a 7/16 in. wrench should do. You know us Americans. We can't grasp that whole metric thing.

I know what ya guys mean. I just have acquired perfect set and all tools for my old US cars, and then I have realized that my brit bike needs its OWN british inches tools!
millimeter tools are no problem over here. those are easy to get.
