Anyone ran taller tires?

I checked the diameter of the HHR's tires 215/55/16's are 25.3" tall. Anyone tried a taller tire in the 26.5" to check MPG?

The lower spring perch on the front strut is going to limit you to 26" or just a hair over. Don't think you will fit 26.5"

Your right, just went outside and checked.. it is a fingers width clearance now. Well shims or something could cure that. Plenty of room in the rear. Taller tire would throw the final drive ratio way down.. and rpm's.

I am running 225/50/17 BF Goodrich Traction T/A tires on the factory 17" 2LT wheels. The factory wheels call for 215/50/17, so I am running a little bit taller than normal. As they are now, there is just enough room for them, they do not cause any issues. Anything taller I am sure would start to cause rubbing, etc.

That is a 25.9" ..Do you notice any difference in mileage, RPM is how much less?

We have a member out here on the west coast, that goes by the name "PROSTREET". He is running the widest on tallest rear tires you can stuff inside the rear tubs. Send him a PM and see what size tires he has.
