$30,000 in cash turns up in HHR

A 20-year-old Edmonton man faces several charges after RCMP said they found about $30,000 cash in his rental vehicle.
The motorist was pulled over for speeding on Highway 16 near Kitscoty, 224 km east of Edmonton, about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, said Cpl. Luis Gandolfi.
Mounties clocked the new Chevy HHR the man was driving at 138 kmh, 28 kmh over the posted speed limit.
After the lone occupant was unable to provide a driver's licence or a rental agreement, RCMP towed the vehicle and searched it.
That's when Mounties say they found the cash, in various denominations, stashed in a satchel in the back seat. The driver couldn't provide an adequate explanation for the large sum of money, Gandolfi said.
"Normally speaking, people usually don't carry that kind of money in the back seat of their vehicle," Gandolfi added.
Derrick Riley, 20, was charged under proceeds of crime legislation. He also was charged with several Traffic Safety Act violations.
He is slated to appear Nov. 7 in Lloydminster provincial court.

Holy cow...$30,000 in the car.
For those of us like me that don't know metric conversions, here's the speeds referenced in the articles converted from kmh to mph.
138 kilometer/hour = 85.749 224 529 mile/hour (mph)
28 kilometer/hour = 17.398 393 383 mile/hour (mph)
It's easy to get the HHR to 85mph...but I sure wouldn't be doing it with $30,000 in the back that I can't explain. And unable to produce a drivers license or rental agreement...what was this guy thinking?
