I have an '08 panel automatic and the keyfob has buttons for:
remote start, lock and unlock for driver, 2nd press unlocks passenger *and* liftgate, and a button for each of the handleless side doors (the door pops ajar). Neither remote operated the side rear doors until the dealer replaced the receiver (in the rearview mirroir)

GM calls the rear hatch/gate/door a "liftgate". Maybe using this term will help future postings concerning the liftgate or the liftgate window. Just a FYI for what it is worth. And as stated by others there is no option to release the liftgate window with the remote transmitter.
