Unlike your FYI being directed to me, mine was not directed to you. I was only stating terminology to help others. Thanks for keeping me in line though.

As far as programming an '07 key fob to open the rear doors, GM offers no programming at this time.

I had almost this exact conversation on another forum. It's a little difficult to offer valid help to a poorly described problem especially if the wrong "names" are used.

However, I did understand the original post was for the REAR DOORS AND NOT THE LIFT GATE.

I'm not getting involved with what others thought.

I don't know how I can make it any clearer that I know the original post was about the rear doors and not the liftgate (See prior post). My post on was an FYI on TERMINOLGY, to help the users who misunderstood the original post, kind of like getting it straight as to which is the left and which is the right side of a car/truck. Sorry for the confusion.

ChevyMgr......

I think you misunderstood the intent of my statement. I DID NOT make it as a slam at you. It was made as a statement for me......and just that, a general statement....I UNDERSTOOD IT AS THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS. Nothing more. If anything, it was more of a criticizm to those that thought it was the lift gate.

I understood the intent of your post as you indicated...just a FYI in terminology.

Sorry if you feel I'm criticizing. I'm not.

OK, along those lines.......anyone who DOES have the remote rear door openers. Do you like them? Mine have been accidently opened about 5-10 times by bumping the button in my pocket, once while it was raining out. I also find myself accidently hitting those buttons while trying to push some of the others then you have to close the door, usually on the passenger side! Also, those buttons will still open the rear doors when the car is locked. Other times when you do want to open them, the doors don't pop out far enough and you must hit it again. All in all, a great feature and I hope to shave the front door handles on mine someday to match but they do have their downside.

I for one don't get why another dash button / remote function on the fob can't be added to the panels to include the rear hatch. I suspect an oversight or a price - point determination issue.

Snoopy,

It's all good and I have no problem with you! I believe we're both here trying to help others and learn something new too when the opportunity arises.

It seems simple to me too. My Tahoe has it, but I'm sure it all comes down to $$$ for GM. A GM exec told me once the reason they didn't spend the extra 50 cents to put a metal insert into the heater knobs the kept stripping out on GMC and Chevy trucks in the '90's was purely a cost issue of not wanting to spend 50 cents times 1,000,000. Besides he stated the new models (2000's) would have a different set up. This was in 1998.

I haven't had any of those problems (but I'm like a pilot and have my take-off and landing routines down pat) but I do goof sometimes picking the correct side of the remote (which is why I don't fly planes) and end up openning the wrong side door but I just keep right on walking around to the other side like that was the plan. We have a responsibility to maintain coolness driving those vehicles.
