Getting use to a new vehicle is always fun but sometimes challenging thing in life.
I drove a Ford Ranger since I bought it new back in 91. So when it was time to replace it the decision was a tough one at best. Having not had to buy a car for 22 years I needed to do some research. I looked at the HHR a few times when they came out and thought highly of them and put it on my list of choice when the time came to replace the truck. Well, that time came and on January 26 2013 the wife and traded the ranger on a white 2011 1LT.
Overall I am impressed with the HHR. After driving a pickup for 30 years it takes a while to get use to something different. We got the 2.2 with the automatic and the mileage is great and the ride is well, while not a Bentley it is better than most cars I have ridden in. The HHR has a good stance at rest and looks good going down the road. The more I drive it the better I like it. My lists of mods have grown thanks to this site and have hooked up with the North-Cal HHR club. Would I buy a HHR again? Yes I would. In fact we are looking at getting one for the wife.

Glad you are enjoying it. I purchased my 08 panel new in December of 07 and have nearly 100,000 miles on it now. Other than typical HHR minor issues I have had no problems. I think I enjoy it more now than when it was new. Little mods here and there make it more versatile and I can use it for most anything I want.

Here is to many years of enjoyment!

F-16C- Good to hear..

I really enjoy my Panel..(got it in '09) Before that I had 98 S-10, for almost 10 years.
& prior to that one was my 1985 S-10, that I had for just over 10 years & 237K + miles on.

Was an adjustment for me as well going to FWD, But my lil Panel would smoke either of my S-10's... & I loved my S-10's..

That is kinda what happened to us. My wife bought her 09 in March of 10 replacing a 96 Pontiac Sunfire Gt. I kept stealing it ever chance I got. In Oct of 10 when my 93 Corolla with over 180,000 miles need $500+ worth of engine work done I ran into mine a 10 LT. So we now have two. Several people on here have more than one.

Me Too

I also went from 20+ years of Ranger use to the HHR for a work truck. Had similar problems with getting use to the “feel” of a car and in particular the lack of visibility compared to a higher riding truck.

What I’m just now getting use to is the inability to modify the electrical system do to the CAN controlling all functions of the car. Otherwise a good buy and in general I am happy.

I went from my Grand Prix to the HHR and it took a little while to get used to the different feel. Now after nearly 5 years in the HHR, it feels really strange getting back in the GP!

You are gonna love owning and driving a HHR. It is a pretty simple, very dependable, very cool looking car. You made the right choice.

Glad you're liking your hhr. I came from a beat to hell Buick century that was leaking fluids out of every orifice and a bad slipping trans. I'm loving my hhr so far after purchasing it on July 4, 2012.
