174,000 miles and counting........and on the original clutch
I've got my recall notice for my 2007 LS. The key does not fall back to the lock position unless I turn it, and it has a very heavy key ring. I have closely checked the pressure that it takes to turn it off and believe me, it does not have an issue. I will have the recall repair done, as a precautionary measure. I have put over 174,000 miles on this vehicle and have never made a major repair to it. It is on the original clutch and I have no indication of clutch slip, even when pulling steep grades through the mountains of Pennsylvania. Has anyone else here had this many miles on the clutch?

Clutch life, barring mechanical failure, is solely dependent on the user. Your clutch life says, you know how to properly use a clutch. I have been driving manual transmission cars for over fifty years, and have yet to replace a clutch, other than one in the 70's that failed because of a failed clutch linkage cable. Bad design on that one. My current HHR is also a manual transmission, and though I do not have the miles on it, that you do, it too is at this point just fine.

I had noise in the suspension/ steering from two different sources. One was the intermediate shaft and the other was the sway bar links. Those tend to be two big ones.

I just replaced the sway bar links last weekend and it made a big improvement on the "rattles" and noise. Pain in the arse job for something so simple, ugh. Everything was absolutely rusted tight! Oh well, its a lot better now because I can hear all kinds of new "little noises"! ha ha ha

Now I'm thinking I shoulda gone with a manual instead of an auto (simpler, more dependable, cheaper/easier to fix, better gas mileage AND more fun to drive).
Oh well.
