2.2 to 2.4 from 2006 to 2007

My Wife purchased a 2006 Chevy HHR about 8 years ago and has been running it since then, we always take care of tune ups and stay on top of the maint. on the vehicle. The only problem is throughout the years the body and under carriage have been rotting bad. We purchased a 2007 Chevy HHR with a blown motor a Florida car and the Body and everything are like new with the 2.2. ECM and wiring, What needs to be swapped Computer wise? 2006 had VVT 2007 Does Not. Dropped Sub Frame and swapped engine & Tranny. Everything seems the same except one ECM has 2 Plugs and the 2006 has 3 to the ECM. So we need to take the wiring from the 2006 and put it in the 2007. any tips ?

You need to sell one of the cars, and get the correct engine for the one that you keep. It is way too much trouble to make it work.

I Have both cars side by side, no wiring was cut and I have both BCM,ECM fuse boxes and all wiring it can`t be that difficult the 2.4 is in the 2007 already.

You MIGHT make it work by replacing the engine harness and ECM. You may have to also switch the BCMs, that would require changing the security gear in the steering column (or doing the "new key" dance.

You’re gonna need to swap out the engine harness and fuse box, under the hood and the ECM and TCM .

It is the4 programming in the BCM that might need transferring. No need to mess with the entire steering column, the security chip is easy to deal with (if it is needed).

The Security stuff happens between the BCM and the RFID sort of thing in the key, probably just "learning" a new key. Othe GM cars the security is in the ECM.

There are a few differences in the wiring. Some color codes changed, the headlights/DRL is entirely different.

I am going to use everything from her original Car. The ECM, BCM, TCM, Wiring Harness Stereo, Gauge Cluster & Steering Column. I compared the Fuse Boxes and I am going to use both inside and outside boxes from her original car also , she has the Amp & Factory Sub behind the Driver in the back, 3.5 hours to take out the Entire Interior and remove the harness from the front right Fog Light to the left Rear Tail light not bad at all. So I look at it this way I have a spare part for everything and it will be Super Clean. The hardest part was drilling the 2 rivets out of the fuel pump harness other than that It was not bad at all. The Converter from a 2.2 to a 2.4 is the same part# but from cat back it is reduced in size that will be changed when needed. You look at the price of just the electronic Gas Pedal and Pass Side Airbags it is well worth the time to have spare parts. When this car gets started it wont even realize it had a body change.

So, when you sell the car how are you going to deal with the odometer? The mileage is stored in the BCM as is the VIN. You will have a mismatched VIN and ODOmeter.

"They" will find out, either the DMV or the insurance company. When you get it inspected they compare.
