That means stuck 1-2 shift solenoid.

yes but guys says no forward gears….tubes maybe?

I’m wondering if metal tubes are broke loose inside the pan? Wonder if that would explain no forward gears and the P0974 code also

While you’re at it change the solenoids and the tubes and filter , fluid . Might as well , your hands will be dirty anyways.

No.

P0974 mean “1-2 Shift Solenoid Control Circuit High Voltage.” Broken transfer tubes can’t cause that. A short in the wiring or more likely the solenoid coil

The transmission problem should allow you to negotiate a very good price. WAY less less than a well running car.

VVT doesn’t improve the fuel economy all that much. DOES add complexity. Now, if you live someplace where you can buy E85 cheap, like California, that’s a good reason to favor a FlexFuel car. But in most places, you can’t. Then just buy the better car.
