The 2.2 has enough power. Seems to me the cruise control induced downshift and the associated roar and jump in rpm is the result of the automatic’s design. It has a big big step from 3rd gear up to 4th gear’s overdrive ratio.

I ain’t saying that ain’t so, and I have more limited experience, but my front guide was broken (still largely intact and in place) and the bolt was tight and unbroken. I’ve also seen a couple pics of the guide gone and the bolt beat up and worn by the chain but tight and unbroken. So it’s possible that at least in some cases, the bolt got broke ‘cuz the guide failed.

Nevertheless, I did replace with the redesigned bolt (which I learned about here, thankyouverymuch,) because it can’t become a wrench in the works, regardless of what caused what.
