2.2L or 2.4 L engine hooked to a manual tranny

The gasoline cost savings with the smaller motor would be in the order of 10% after giving consideration to the difference in fuel economy and difference in cost of the two grades of fuel.
The excess power of the 2.4 motor is rarely, if ever, used. Almost all of our driving takes place way down the power curve.

I drove a 2.2l with a 5 spd tonight and loved it. But I was on level ground no hills and where I am I live in a hilly area. I wish they would have had a 2.4 L with a 5 spd to compare. I guess I am looking for the best of both worlds power with fuel economy. I want to win the lotto .

A look at the GM Canada site shows either auto or manual as a choice with the 2.4 l motor.

Keep that a secret, cause my '08 2.4 2LT is a 5 spd. I also get 30+mpg hwy all the time.

Well today I got to drive an 06 with a 2.2L and a manual 5 speed. I put 50 miles on it and love it. I bought it to. I was going to buy a new one and here was a car the color I was going to buy and with the options I wanted used.
I bought an 06 LT with 21K 5 spd,running boards,fog lights and spoiler fro 10k.
I am very impressed with the performance and the car itself.

Maybe it's a regional variation, I know I couldn't build one on the Chevrolet website in early MY08 when I was looking for one in NY, and a search for the '07 equivalent in inventory found only 1 within 100 miles. In any case, whenever the change was, you still can't get it as an '09. I'm happy with my 2.2, 35mpg door to door between Buffalo and Rockford (~700 miles)loaded to the roof 5 times so far. The trip with the 2 bikes on the rack wasn't so good at around 32mpg.
