Well I have had my 07 2.4L for a little over a week now and found out where they had put that 30HP or so......seems the car behaves as the 2.2L around town and most driving areas, however on the highway when passing it shows up in force.
When looking to pass a car on the 2 lane back highways that I travel a lot I put my foot downa and I don't have to "guess" wheather I can get past, plenty of power.
Just want to say that I am glad to have waited to find a good deal on a 2.4L LT

I've been running my 2.4L for 6+ years as see the same effect. I run 87 octane, but have used 93 octane and have seen even more power under heavy acceleration. I don't normally drive with a heavy foot and just do not want to pay $0.40 more per gallon for the 93 octane.

When I had mine, I used the highest octane available to me. (91Oct) It sure helped to have the 2.4L in the automatic. Just drop it in 'I' and wind it up to get all the peppy goodness out of it for short passing situations.

The 2010 and 2011 2.2 was rated at 155 so that's only about 17 HP difference. I drove a 10' 2.4 and 11 2.2. I ended up with 2011 and am happy with it after a few mods. it seemed to rev smoother and really only difference I felt was mid range torque was feeble on the 2.2 however a K&N drop in, pulstar plugs reflectix wrap and royal purple and I hold overdrive up steep hills now at 65 and 70

I've not driven an older 2.2 to compare so I don't know if the newer ones are actually paper ponies or real improvement. I was happy with what I could find.......until I started seeing time slips for the ss :-(....i'm already contemplating eating my losses and trading if I can find one close

Yeah, I figured that out too. I'd have bought the SS in '06 if I could have. You can argue the merits of the 2.2 vs 2.4, but the 2.0TC is something else entirely. I think they put the power output of the 2.4L. too low relative to the 2.2L. If you got the 2.4L, would 200HP and increased towing be too much to ask? Maybe someday they'll bring it back and answer that for me when I need a new ride.

Yeah I've been an lnf fan before but honestly it was so long since id seen an hhr ss that id actually forgotten about them. I've still only seen one in my area and that was only once. I like unique speed. I've got an 06 C6 auto with the z51 that stays in storage in Georgetown. It's my fast toy but it's expected. It's so much more satisfying to embarrass mustangs and Camaros in a wagon. My truck I enjoy driving more but it's about to the point of weekend only toy thanks to too aggressive a cam and 12 mpg if I just idle away from redlights. Oh well sadly I'm already looking at trade in value compared to financed cost and seeing how bad id eat it to step up to an ss

My 2.2 (stock) is peppy enough (for now). I drive long highway stints to work and live in the hills. I've become a fan of using "I" alot to keep speeds and pass and rev's up to climb up hills. No, I don't redline the darn thing nor do I beat on it but once you play with it, you'll learn the "when and where" to shift into it and use the power and gear ratios to your advantage instead of squashing the pedal to make it do it on it's own. I've actually went from 26mpg to 28mpg now learning how to drive more effeciently.

...now, I could only imagine what the 2.4 would feel like in power if I could drive one.
