2005 chevy equinox
Okay I have a 2005 chevy equinox and the other day it starting making a very loud lawn mower type of noise and after so long of being on it died on me in traffic. When i tried to crank it up it made a even loud lawn mower noise ( atatatatatatataatata) and it wouldn't even stay crank to get it home down the street. What could this be. I changed spark plugs wires oil change wasn't due yet. I got the throttle bottle or whateva its called changed and it still didnt fix the problem. Please can someone advise me in the right direction cause a shop here will cost me a arm and a leg.

This forum is for the Chevy HHR - a totally different vehicle than your 2005 Equinox.
You might be better off finding a forum that covers the Equinox don't you think?
Your description is sorely lacking details on what engine/mileage etc. - and the wording in a lot of cases doesn't make a whole lot of sense. ie: "it wouldn't even stay crank to get it home down the street" ????? what does that mean?

Even though it was not yet time for an oil change, it may not have any oil in it. Or maybe the timing chain is bad.
Agreed, an Equinox forum would serve you much better.

Sorry. But "lawnmower noise" and "atatatatatataatata"and "died and wouldn't stay crank".........................sounds terminal.

Are there any CEL codes?
How is the battery?
4 cylinder or V6?
spark plug wires?
Yeah, you’d be better off on the Equinox site

Huh. Slightly off-topic, but T.I.L. the 2013–2017 second-gen Equinoxes could be had with 3.6 L LFX @ 301 hp.
