Yeah…idk …there were no codes when she bought it.This just popped up…I tried replacing the rear 02 sensor but my next assumption is the cat. The car is rust free so I’m gonna order one and hope this solves it….really hard to find parts for these .

Are you sure the exhaust is solid and leak free? If so it's likely the cat. The vehicle has 64K on the clock?

Yes…there’s literally minor surface rust…we got it from a retired gentleman in Florida. There’s no drivability issues but the check engine light is on .There are no other codes thrown.

Hopefully you get a decent amount of use out of the cat you get.

My opinion is that cheap is just as good as expensive when it comes to cats.
If it failed in 64,000 miles something caused it to fail ands it will cause a new one to fail unless fixed. Cats are guaranteed for 8 years.80,000 miles, most get 100's of thousand miles.
Things that cause failure include:
burning oil,
burning coolant,
misfiring (unburnt fuel),
silicone contamination,
extreme idling,
leaded fuel (some people think "octane booster" is a good think)

There is a link to Owner Manuals in my sig, the "tune up" intervals are listed.

I installed one of these in my 2007 2.2 and got 275,000 miles out of it before I sold Oldblue

https://mufflerexpress.com/products/...rter-2005-2007

Three manifold bolts , the 2 O2 sensors and 2 flange bolts . Done!
I replaced my OEM with this because my flex pipe broke, that gave me a P0420 code!
