I have a 06 LS that has the delete AP3 it's on the build sheet. Have someone run your vin. and then you will know what your car has. If it dont have the hood switch then it won't have remote start. That all there is to this

My remote start GM for Chevy HHR LT 2006 suddenly stopped working. Battery is OK, Ruber pad is new, I have ONLY one working key.
Please any advice is appreciated.

@Edi, from what I have read on the forum, this can be quite frustrating to figure out on your own. I recommend contacting your local Chevrolet dealership for assistance in getting this resolved.

I bought my HHR used and didn't even get a keyless entry fob. I bought a keyless entry Fob on eBay and took it to the dealer to have it programmed. Mine had a sticky ignition and the dealer replaced the ignition and programed my fob for under $17.00. It was a special replacement deal for sticky ignitions. Everything worked and remote start worked too.

Buy an HHR keyless entry fob on eBay. Buy also an extra key or two.

Take the fob (keyless entry) out to your car: (1. Press the lock button. Then (2. press the third button (not the unlock) and hold it down for a while. It should start. Let us know if it worked.

Help!
Thanks

Mine was a fleet car but not a rental.. and no remote start, straight from factory. Crappy part is that the factory install, from the dealer, is about $800, and that's cheaper than aftermarket. I decided to run outside and start it.

2008 model can be jiggered to work! It's 2009 + that you can't do. If you have the "remote start" option in your DIC then grounding the wire will work, and you don't need a new fob. Read the beginning of the sticky for the how to.

That's the sucky part.. it's not installed at ALL. There's nothing to jigger, sadly. I had GM techs all over the thing saying "no, come on, it's GOTTA be there".. but it ain't. It was a fleet car, garaged all of it's life when not being driven. I don't care, really.. I have the car, that's the really important part.

I had to go to the dealer 3 times to get mine reflashed so I could reset my TPMS positions. The car was sold as "no fob", but I found one in a bag in the storage compartment, it worked on the door locks, but not the TPMS. They did try to tell me that it had no RCDLR, he was looking in the wrong place (some of the manuals are wrong, they shows it on the right door pillar). I did the remote start crack after the reflash, so I am not sure if that had anything to do with it. If you cannot bully them into doing it for free a reflash with new firmware should not cost more than 1 hour labor, there is a TSB relating to this, but NEVER tell a GM service writer that you know of a TSB, "there will be blood".

Regular 3-button fobs will remote start, if enabled.
1) press lock
2) press lock+panic
car starts just like you pushed the start button.

Bro! I just bought an 06 LT and was researching how to install a remote start. Found this thread and read through it. My key fob just has the 3 buttons. Tried what you said and boom! Remote start! Thanks a ton!
