2007 to 2008 conversion

The only changes I know for the 2LT from 2007 to 2008 were the addition of instantaneous mileage display on the DIC and TMPS (tire pressure monitoring system). The big stuff changed in 2009, and would be impractical to attempt as a retrofit (moving the window controls, changing the headliner and dome lights, adding stability control). However, if I wanted to do either or both of the two small 2008 changes in my 2007, would it be feasible? The TPMS monitors are available for sale, and transmit a signal so are not wired to anything. Would you have to buy some kind of 2008 control module, and could you just snap it into place if you get the right one?

Anythings possible. Things that come to mind on the TPMS are: Sensors, RCDLR, Possible BCM, a good VIN from a 2008 HHR already equipped exactly like yours (for programming). Then you would need to have a Tech2 scanner, access to GM wiring schematics and have a deep understanding of automotive electronics.

Instant fuel might come with the BCM and programming, but may require programming to the ECM also.

Now this is only feasable if the wiring harnesses are exactly the same for 2007 and 2008. If not then you would need a new main harness.

X 2.....I think that you're looking at a major expense and a huge pain. Just from thumbing through the shop manuals it looks like the differences between the model years are significant.

Not worth it

I was just wondering. My attitude is now adjusted. It's clearly not worth it. If I want it to act like a 2008 or 2009/10, then I should simply wait for prices to drop as they get older and go buy one!
