2008 engine

Was just looking through the 2008 HHR brochure and noticed this pic. Don't think anyone has pointed it out yet.

I believe this is a 2.4 since the caption says "HHR 2LT in Sunburst Orange II Metallic."

Notice the new engine shrouds! Looks much nicer and looks like a re-work intake system.

Anyone of you who's driving 08's, TOM!!, how about a pic or two of the engine please?

I think it was prototype. hopefully they will get rid of the monster air filter 2009.

That is the shroud and intake tract for 2.2 Ecotecs. Impalas, Malibus, and Cobalts all have the same set-up, might just be a printing mistake...

Edit...
I stand corrected, they changed the 2.4, in my defense they have that same design shroud on 2.2s (so i wasn't TOTALLY wrong)

I think you both may be right. Just a matter of them running out of the currently used "monster"!

Anything would be better than the one used now!

My grandparents just got a 2007 impala, it has what looks to be about the same on that pic. On the Impala it is just a piece of plastic on top of engine. Doesnt appeal to me. If mine I would take it off and have a new frisbee

This engine layout is a PITA to do the oil change on. This setup is on the wife's 2.4L G6, the plastic cowling gets in the way of the oil filter cap so you can't fit the same kind of tools you can use on the HHR on it (my socket doesn't have enough clearance). When I did the oil change on her car, I had to use a set of vice-grip pliers, which in turn kind of chewed up the hex on the cap.

The 1LT was a 2.2 and the 2LT was a 2.4 both with the big air intake, could the brochure be the sneaky of the 2.0 engine? might just have to go searching........hmmmmmmmmmm

That's good to know.

It said it was from a 2LT so I assumed it was a 2.4, though I've been wrong before!

There is already a pic of the 2.0 which has been posted in the SS threads.
