Well we could look at how else could the engineers cornfuse us. Ahhhhhh post a engine from some other car....

This engine layout is a PITA to do the oil change on. Actually I have a 2007 brochure from early in the year and bought an early 2007, and it has that same "cool" engine cover vs my actual vehicle that has the traditional "large" (aka ugly) cover....
