2009 buying advice

Hello all, I'm not an HHR owner.. YET!
I using the 'Cash for Clunkers' to buy my new HHR. (cars.org)

My question is, should I buy and 2009 or a 2008 if I cans still find one?
I want a manual so I can flat tow it behind my RV.

I see the 2009 gets a little better gas mileage and also has the flex fuel, but I also see it about 2k more this year.

What optoins should I get and which ones should I go for an after market add on?

Thanks in advance for all your advice...

If your young at heart, I would suggest the '09 HHR SS and add a GM Stage kit to it. Great mileage and plenty of HP. I believe that when you tow these, all that is needed is a fuse pulled out of the fuse box. Good Luck.

Read the fine print on the cash for clunckers. It has be so much of a MPG gain on the car getting turn in to the one you are buying. If it does not qualify the money is less or not offered.

The 09LS comes with a lot more standard features than the 08LS. For example, ABS, stability control and side air bags.....

The HHR can be flat towed with the automatic or Stick, however the SS doesn"t have a
base plate kit . It is a good tow car but no Brackets for SS.

kit. The car is great to tow, light weight, just pull the number 8 fuse.

I would go with the '09 simply for the fact that you will be able to get what you want. With an '08, you will more than likely have to settle on things, like the color or options because it will be much harder to find.

Just my $0.02.

Thanks all for the great advice.
I think I will go with an 09 since it has more standard options and my selections would be greater.
I would love the SS, but this is a family tuckster and I'm not allowed to have anything that nice with kids...lol.

My 89 cherokee with 6cyl auto quailfies for cars according to fueleconomy.gov.

thanks again...

did they pass that cash for clunkers thing. I thought It still had to be voted on. So how does it work going from a car to an suv? (like the hhr) Would like to know what the combined mpg of my '99 cavalier is, Trade in for a new camaro lol. I see they have alot of stipulations.

More of our tax money going to other people. Might have to take advantage of it, if it is worth it.

Also for a heads up. If you purchase a new car in '09 you can get a deduction for your sales tax.

If you're not going with an SS you can only get a 5 speed with the 2.2 engine.GM discontinued the 2.4/5 speed choice from the 2LT package for 2009.I'm now glad I got mine car when I did.
