Thumbs up 2009 HHR TAX REBATE for 2010 !!!

Hey !! I don't know if this is the same in all states, but I got a call from my tax guy, and if you bought a new HHR (mine is a 2009) and it has a flex-fuel engine, there is a tax rebate on the sales tax you spent on the car ! It will probably be somewhere near $100.00 or so, but every little bit helps. - Jennifer

I know I got a tax credit for buying any car after February 16th 2009. Lucky for me I bought mine the 17th! Don't know if that was federal or Michigan though...

I was able to deduct $904 from my taxes for my panel. I should of bought it two weeks sooner and got the $4500 during "cash for clunkers". Stayed on the fence too long.

That part of the "stimulus" was a non event as sales taxes are deductible anyway from your 2009 taxes. If you had the wherewithal to save all of your sales tax receipts for the entire year, you could have added them all up and taken them as well. Lazy people got to use a chart. I saved my receipts and had paid three times the sales tax that the chart estimated that I would have spent.

I think it was 2006, as a gift to the no income tax states, they started allowing you to deduct EITHER the state income tax, or the state sales tax you paid, whichever is more. The 2009 deal allows you to deduct both your state income tax and the sales tax on a car purchased after Feb 2009.

Sales tax on all purchases was included in that extension.
