2011 2.2 V/S 2.4 For a conservative driver?
I am looking to pick up a remaining new 2011 1LT but with the 2.2 engine with auto transmission.
Whats your feelings about that other then lower resale value and demand ???
Plan on leaving it Stock ... Wife Car.
Any annoying or unusual noises etc. v/s 2.4
Will be using 87 octane fuel.

Not sure about the 2011's but I think they are the same.... 2.4L "likes" premium (will run on 87 but with scaled back timing, etc. so it's not at full potential) while the 2.2L is made for 87...... Just something to think about.

Having both sizes of engine I'd say you wouldn't mind the 2.2(and unless you're hammering it, there isn't much appreciable difference except on paper), and I can't see any difference in demand or resale value when the time comes, there are more 2.2's than 2.4's anyway.

I'm biased
The 2.2 with auto is the slowest combination of engine and transmission available for the vehicle, but it's also the most common so a lot of people must like it. Girlfriend and I went for the 2.4 with manual (apparently not offered after 2008) which is the highest-performance choice short of the SS. I really like the extra power when passing. I feel safer being able to get out of the way of opposing traffic. Otherwise, I don't notice it much.

If you are leaving it stock, the wife probably isn't real concerned about what engine it comes with. My wife loves her's because she is 5"1" and it fits her to a tee.
It is a relatively inexpensive car and will make some noise. Drive one to see if it irritates you.
The 2.2 with VVT is a pretty good little engine for a daily driver. Don't be afraid of the 2.2 with the auto. A few years ago, I swore I would never buy another 4 banger with an auto. This set up changed my mind.
