2011 Chevy HHR defrost.

I have a 2011 and my defrost is acting weird. My car produces super good heat but when I turn my dial to defrost, no air comes out. It’ll continue to blow air out of the regular face vents. Any ideas on what it could be or how to fix?

Check the blend door actuators do you hear any tapping when you change from foot well to footwell and face, then to defrost? If you do that would be an actuator motor.

Thank you for responding! I don’t remember hearing anything like that. But I can go out to my car and listen for it. If I don’t hear it is there anything else you think could be the problem?

The doors inside the HVAC system are electric motor operated, so it’s usually the problem, you could remove the cabin air filter and listen from there.

Elandra mine makes a distinct slapping noise in the glove box

Elandra mine makes a distinct slapping noise in the glove box area. It still functions as designed but one of the door motors is banging when I start HHR. If you open the glove box for a listen and like others suggested you can take out the cabin air filter and if you put you hand in there can feel one of the mode doors. For me that's the one making noise.

With mine the air conditioner would not work when it was above 80 degrees outside air temp. Also the heat would not shut off. Worked fine in the winter. I ended up buying a control head for the waterfall from a junk yard on ebay for about thirty five dollars. I also got a new speaker for the driver's door which also was about thirty five dollars from a dealer advertising on ebay..
