Exclamation 2LT vs 1LT

I am looking at buying a 2006 HHR 2LT. The problem I'm having is that some of the dealers don't list the vehicle options right, aka 1LT vs 2LT. I need to know what would be a definate tell-tale of a 2LT package? I know you can get 1LT package with the 7-speaker system, XM, leather, sunroof, Bright Chrome package, chrome tip, etc. Can you get the chrome 17" wheels on a 1LT? Also, if someone put those wheels on a 1LT, what other ways could you tell the difference? I know the sport suspension is only on the 2LT package, but can you see the difference in the shocks, since the Sport has gas-charged? Any pictures would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

2LT has a larger front anti-sway bar, and had gas shocks.

If you're buying brand new 06 off the lot then the sticker on the car will specify if its a 1LT or a 2LT. The sticker also shows what is std. equip or optional equipment (if it were a 1LT with added options)

Some of the things that are standard on the 2LT are options on the 1LT. The only things that I have seen that seem to be different are the Suspension Package and the wheels. I don't believe you can order a 2007 with 17" tires and rims...at least not what I saw at Chevrolet.com. Also, the 2.4L engine is standard on the 2LT and an option on the 1LT. Without close inspection, I don't believe there is a way to tell the difference between the two from afar.

As always, I could be wrong...and I'm sure someone will be happy to point it out.

If you look at the VIN, the 5th and 6th numbers denote LS/LT and the 8th number is the engine size.

Example: 3GNDA23P56S50285 would mean it is a LT w/ 2.4 engine.

What hvrod said above is the only real difference. The rest are potential options.

What if someone's not mechanically inclined, and doesn't know the difference between a sway bar and a roll bar?

It is going to be a used purchase. Could someone take a picture of theirs shocks, one for 2LT and one for 1LT please and post them in this thread? The VIN just tells the difference between the LS and LT, not 1LT and 2LT.

Look in the glove box on the inside of the "door" there will be a placard that says "SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION". It contains info on how the vehicle was built. You will be looking for FE3 That is the code for the Sport Suspension System that is ONLY available on the 2LT.
If you see FE1 then it has standard suspension and is NOT a 2LT.

Good Luck
