Discrepansy
Why not just go with the 2.2/5 speed? Their performance numbers are almost identical with the 2.4/auto.
2.4/Auto
0-60=8.37
1/4=16.35
1/4 MPH=85.2
2.2/5 Speed
0-60=8.51
1/4=16.63
1/4 MPH=84.95
These number are for the 06 when the 2.2 had a few less HP and the 2.4 had the 3.91 final ratio. I bet they are even closer now.

solman's numbers don't seem to agree with yer statement, they are very close...
Do you know which ratio the 2.2 has? Also, do ya have the codes for the different ratios? Can I specify when I order it which ratio I want?
TIA,

I don't thing there is an option for a different ratio.

All I know is that Chevy rated the 2.2 about 135hp, the 2.4 about 170hp. And you really can't compare those 1/4 mile numbers since one was an auto and one a 5 spd. post each w/auto and each with 5 spd for a fair comparison.

2.2 is only 135 hp??? hmmmm
2.2 16 valve 145 hp EcoTec with 155 lb-ft of torque. wouldn't take much to get to what a 2.4 is. I ran a dyno on my Blackberry and averaged 146.5-148.5 whp. Which isn't too bad seems about right with drive train loss and the mods i have done. A 2.4l with and auto tranny puts it at about 144 Whp remember Gm rates their hp at the crank.

I know the 2.2 has gained 8-10 hp since 2006 and the 2.4 gained 2-4? since then. But for 2006 the numbers were:
2.2, 143hp & 150tq
2.4, 172hp & 162tq
The auto just eats up more HP, it fairly normal.
