Adding 'Under dash lights'

Adding 'Under dash lights'
Gentelmen,
I got some 'under dash lights' from a GM at the local junkyard. They're a neat little unit, mount with one screw right underneath the dash. They have two wires for a #67 blub. My question is, how to wire 'em? Is the switch for the dome lights a grounding type switch? If so, can I just run a 'hot' to 'em (from the fused dome light circuit at the BCM), and tap into the DL switch at the door?
If that'll work, the fused switch that I added (to kill the dome light) will shut 'em off when I don't want 'em.
I hope that this is that straightforward...

Sheeze, I would have though that someone had already tried this mod??? I got the lights mounted, they look really cool (or will, whenever I can figure out the wiring). I guess I need a wiring diagram to see how the dome lights are wired... I hear a relay clicking when I use my on-off-kill dome switch and the dome lights go on & off.

bassbase,
Nice effect. What I need to know, however, is do your LED's come on when the door opens? That's what I'm trying to do. Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough in the original post...

T 20 Go to this thread https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...t=24774&page=6
but then look at post #52 and download to your computer, that post worked for me, also look at #53. I say that because the first post no longer seems to work. I believe it will have most of the wiring diagrams that were good for the 06-07 models but alot may be similar for the newer models also. Hope this helps.
Forget about #53, #52 still works

T 20, fuse #27 in the floor fuse panel (at least on the '06) controls the dome/mirror lights. Should be very simple to tap in your wire for the new floor lights. Be sure your on/off switch for the dome light is after the tap in unless you want the floor lights controled by that switch also.

an08HHR,
After looking at post #53 that you refered to, I get this message:
"This file has been removed from the server, because the file has not been accessed in a long time."
skyglen,
Don't know why I hadn't though of that... Duh.
I'll try hooking the floor lights to the 'cold' side of the #27 fuse.
I'll let ya know if it works...

Hope that works the way ya need. After the 20 second delay or whatever it is, the floor lights should dim right out just like the mirror and dome light. Should also do the 20 minute shut off if the doors are open for long periods.
Good luck.
Good luck.
