Advice needed on Repainting damage to door

Friday night my car was hit by another car in the movie theater parking lot, it was a hit and run. There is a dent and scratch on my drivers side back door. The estimate i got from the place my insurance sent me to was $655. This includes fixing the dent, taking out the window and window trim and repainting the entire door. My deductible is $500 so the insurance would only be covering $155 of the cost, i'd be paying the rest.

I stopped at another place a car dealer friend recomended and they gave me an estimate of $300 however they would fix the dent and then blend the paint.

My question is: Which is the better option?? I plan to keep my car for a long time and i want something that will look good and last. Any advice would be appreciated.

i would say the best option would be the repaint, more expensive, yes, but best.

It would be 200 more to hit your deductible and get the repaint, is that worth it to you. Plus then you have met your deductible, so if any other funny business comes along, you can get it covered easier.

Aren't the people in the world just great. My wife was just given a dent on her pass side to match the one from a few months ago on her driver side. Just amazing how no one is the world cares about anyone else. We were in a parking lot one day, i was inside getting us food, and apparently someone parked next to us got out and hit their door into my front fender. My wife was in the car and the girl that did it was just walking away until she saw my wife and then she was all "so.... sorry" and so forth. I took down her license plate number, but luckily no damage was done. She didn't give a sh** until she realized she had been caught.

I'd look at the work both shops do and pick the shop that looks like it does the best work. Your keeping the car a long time and the car is black you want it done well.

BTW, you have to pay the deductable for a hit and run?? Here it would be covered under my uninsured motorist clause and I wouldn't pay anything.

Go with the repaint.............there is no good way to blend clear coat. They would have to reshoot the whole door with clear to do it right, so they might as well reshoot the whole door with color too.

here they don't care if it is as hit and run. My wife called when she got the new dent on her door and they said unless we know who did it, we had to pay the deductible.

My deductible is $500 for hit and runs but if i can prove it was intentionally done then i would only have to pay $100 for vandalism. I had one of my other cars keyed a few years ago and only had to pay the $100.
