You are lucky you didn't buy a 2010-11 w/2.4l. A number of those developed a real thirst for oil, qt of oil in 1000 mile or less. My wife had one and was good for about 50K and then the problem began. We ended up dumping it and decided it was time to try another manufacture of vehicles. On a gmc terrain forum, I discovered we were not alone and GM began to say it was normal. A few people ended up getting new engines and then GM corrected the problem in the engine beginning with the 2012 model. It may have been a 2.4L but they changed it somehow when it was first designed for the Terrain/Equinox. Gas mileage wasn't bad but 32 highway mpg as advertised meant nice flat roads and not going the speed limit if you wished to achieve that, usually expect mid 20's mpg. Otherwise not a bad vehicle.
