After only 12 years,...
So after 12 years the battery in my HHR has finally given up the ghost.
I don't know why it lasted so long and I worry about how long the one I got from Wally world will last.
I have read right here how others have gone through several batteries and wondered then how mine has lasted so long.
Last winter I did not drive the car for over a month in the cold weather {we have a 2016 Sonic so had no need of the HHR} but when I charged the battery it came around and lasted till the second day of -10 degrees.
When I took the battery out it was frozen solid. I let it thaw for 4 days then connected the charger over night. It did not respond very well.
I could see through the plastic that some of the cells were a bit on the low side but, it is a sealed battery and I don't know where to drill holes to refill the blame thing so a new one was the best bet for me.

"Sealed" lead acid battery? Where does the gas vent?
I have seen them that looked like there was no way, but have a plastic cover that pops off if you do it right.
This is after the decal is pulled off.

If that battery on youtube was a series 90 it would have round vent holes and a plug in one and the posts would be reversed and round.
Lead acid batteries would explode if they were really sealed, "Spill Resistant" would be a better description.
Point was there is a way to top off "sealed" batteries. You just need to know how to do it. Now, we all know how.
