Aftermarket roof racks - any options?

I ordered my HHR without the factory roof rack option.....well now I regret it. I need to get a roof rack for skis and snowboards (the whole family is getting in downhill this year). Is there any aftermarket options?

What if I wanted to get the factory rails installed now ....is it doable?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

well you might try Googling it yourself, look what I found with just one click:

http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-...oof-racks.html

The Thule 400XT Aero replaces the original 400 aero foot with restyling, improved looks and function for 2006!

The Thule 400 XT Aero complete car roof racks are the multi-purpose base rack solution for cars and truck cabs without rain gutters or factory racks. The new Thule 400 XT upgrades make it easier than ever to install. These complete roof racks include all 3 components that are necessary when you want to connect the attachments that carry your sporting equipment:

(4) 400XT Aero feet.
(4) Fit Kit clips (specific to your vehicle; see ordering notes below).
(2) Load bars (bar end caps included).
Protective surfaces on rack prevent shifting and protect car's paint. No tools required for assembly; easy-to-follow instructions included. Can be locked in place using Thule's One Key System lock cylinders (not included; see accessories below). Thule Racks Lifetime Warranty!

thats really weird ...I was on the Thule sight prior to me posting here, and they said they had no applications for me...thanks for the above info. I found hitch mount units, but I don't have a hitch.

As for Google be our friend .......I was googling for a good 1/2 hour, when I decided to ask folks that live and breath with their HHR's......I did google, I wanted to narrow down the search, what better place then here?

jeez sorry about that... who knew?
Hopefully Angelo's got the answer. It'd be nice to know we have a good alternative to the factory option.

Hey JuMPy - ordered my 2LT on 10/27 with roof racks mandatory to solidify the sale. Dealer added them on as GM part # 12499283 at no cost. Check them out at: http://www.chevrolet.com/hhr/accessories/ option is for either chrome or pearl finish - I'll be using them to carry my Zodiac on top. Was informed that their installation required removal of the side rails to fit inside as to prevent theft of their removal externally. Let me know what you find out...

That is just for the cross bars.

You can also get the cross bars off of ebay, there is a GM dealer there.

But the ad from GM is missleading, the roof bars are attached to the roof and can not come off. The bars pearl, nickel, chrome are the bars that go across and can be taken off.

The guy on ebay has cross bars for bikes, cannoes, surfbds, skies, and a whole bunch of others.

Whoever told you the OEM crossrail install requires removing the roofrails is wrong. I bought the OEM crossrails on ebay and it takes about 20 minutes to install them. Very easy to do and the roofrails DO NOT have to be removed!
