Ahhhh hail.....

Last Friday, bad storm came through my area. Sitting in the living room watching TV, starting hearing some tapping on the side of the house. Looked outside and saw some small hail hitting the ground, maybe pea size. Then it just stopped.

Few minutes later, starting hearing it again, then it got louder. . And louder, . Decided to go look out front and saw golf ball size and larger coming down....

Still haven't got my shed finished, so the garage already had the wifes in there and the other side is full of stuff for the shed, that's not quite there yet. So, HHR got beat up. Called State Farm on Monday, they said get an estimate. Got that today, $400 for PDR. So tomorrow I will go by and submit for my insurance. Won't cost me a dime out of pocket at least. Guess it will get fixed next week...

Life goes on.....

Bummer, dude! I've been through hail damage -- Acheiva SC sport coupe, black, and every single body panel was damaged, even the top edges of the door panels. They had to replace the hood and truck lid. Total repair bill was over $3,000 on a car only a year old. Now, even the slightest mention of hail makes my skin crawl!

We had the same thing on the wife's STi last year. Cost almost 3,000 bucks after they had to replace the hood since it was so bad. Rest was removed Paintless and came out perfect.

I was actually expecting it to be worse with the size of what was coming down. No glass damage. Hood, roof and the right front fender got the blunt of it. Had to wait on the estimate so I could get it cleaned so they could see everything. It was still hard after, sun was shinning nicely.....

We had a white '04 Corolla that was dimpled like a golf ball! After over $2500, gratefully covered by insurance, in pdr work it was like new.

My 06 HHR was caught in a golf-ball size hailstorm here at work last year. I have lived in the area all my life and hadn't seen hail larger than about 1/8" diameter before. The insurance paid for the damage, which was almost $5000.

What is it with hail anymore?

Just over a year ago while I was in California we had a hail storm here that was unlike one ever recorded in history of this area. It was baseball size and went on for miles.

Cars were dented, windows in cars and houses were smashed. siding was dented and broken and nearly all the roofs had to be replaced.

I was glad I was out of town as I only had to have siding and a roof replaced. The cars were all inside so no damage their.

Since this storm we have had 2 more storms near by and with similar damage.

Sorry about your HHR, I feel for you! I once had a new VW Jetta ruined by hail here in Colorado. It was only 3 months old! I almost cried. Over $4000 worth of repairs at the body shop. They replaced the roof, trunk, doors, hood, pretty much every panel on the car. I had LOTS of problems/issues with the bodywork and paint afterwards too. Never again! Next time I'm going with the Paintless Dent Removal (PDR). Depending on how big the dents are, these PDR guys can work miracles!
