also you dont have to use the relay included in the kits the same relay is in the fusebox under the hood. the factory horn button connects the hot to the horn, so all you have to do is use the factory hot wire off the horn thats behind the fender connect that to the pump and connect a ground to the pump and you can use the factory horn on the steering wheel to blast. took longer to figure out where to mount the horn and find the factory horn than to wire it. all this before iposted the links to the tech manual

Bser,

Without the relay, when I was playing with the horn first taken out of the box I wired it up. Three horn honks blew the 10 amp fuse in the fusebox under the hood.

This thing uses 18 amps of current, so it's best to use the relay and larger wire. Besides you want it to work when "it is time" if you follow.

Same thing happened to me, but I figured it was the wires touching together and shorting out... I put a 15amp fuse in that circuit though and it hasn't blown yet. I use the horn quite a bit (as my wife finds it annoying!)

I would like to trade up for a deeper sounding horn though, it is a little too high-pitched for my liking. I saw a huge display of all these different WOLO horns in Fleet Farm store here in WI, after I bought mine of course!

wolo horns-fuse protection

Carl,

Trouble with placing a larger fuse in the 10 amp socket is that you're asking small wiring and a horn contact designed for 8 amps to withstand 18 amps.

In time something will burn up; adding just 2 wires, a 20 amp fuse and a relay isn't that hard, honest!
