Alarm horn not honking when doors locked with fob
#23
Not looking good. Dealer tried reprogramming key fobs still didn't work. They traced the circut said it was good. Getting new bcm installed, they said alarm would then work. So I guess I wasted 200 dollars for them to scan it and try to reprogram fobs. I was thinking bcm after all. 775 after everything,
should be here Monday.

My 2008 LS has had electrical gremlins since I owed it (2yrs).
After I had key lock cylinder replaced under recall I got extra keys and one fob. That worked for awhile then stopped when the battery drained I think. Didn't work after but while it did I was able to get the TPMS responding and the red horn button would work and pressing lock button twice would activate horn and I assume whatever security it has.
Brought it back to dealer to see if they could reprogram according to a TSB i found on the site (thanks donbrew) They spent time with it and couldn't get the fob working again and traced it to the BCM but I didn't pursue more costs and work at that point.
Gremlins are door chime rings all the time with door open key out and the radio sometimes act peculiar on FM signals. The TMPS light is on at all times and I have four new sensors I'd install but with the other problems I don't see those alone solving my troubles.
Interested to see how your dealer makes out with repair. Wonder if headliner has to come out completely to get at BCM which is mounted near rear view mirror I believe?

OMG! My hair is a mess my computer must be the cause.
re 2008
My dealer couldn't find my RCDLR, claimed the car didn't have one because no code AP3. Turned out he was looking at a 2007 shop manual. After that he suddenly was able to read the directions in the TSB; it is NOT reprogramming it IS updated firmware (the same thing they are going to have to do to install a new RCDLR).
The main problem is that the people in the service dept are either illiterate or don't care enough to actually read. What I heard was "that's not my job".
re jjoverit
the dealer is piling BS on you in huge steaming piles. The fobs don't have anything to do with the problem. Be prepared to spend more, they are throwing your money at the problem.

Bcm rcdlr
Thanks fireman I was writing from my memory and it may have more shorts in the circuits than my HHR modules.
The dealer traced it to the RCDLR for my remote entry fob troubles or the wiring. I said stop there at $90 they said tech spent 3 hours on it!
I was going to go old school and pull the chime until I discovered the noise come through the speaker.
With my intermitent radio troubles it maybe the radio IDK and just put up with stuff sometimes.
When I find a similar one in the junkyard i can dissect that one first to examine before operating on mine.
Hope dealer solves jjoverit troubles equitably. Not like the dental commercial on TV that tries to empty the patients wallet.
