I am going to have to agree with those that have already stated, you don't need to buy an HHR. You already have a negative aspect for it. If you buy it, you will only complain more. Just save yourself the hassle.

I love the "quality" of comments here.

I agree, if you have negative feelings about the HHR, DON"T BUY DON"T COMPLAIN. Buy your foreign cars and be happy.

But it seems like utility was your top priority or you likely would have ended up with the VW's, correct. Why weren't you shopping other crossovers wagon types such as the Subaru Forester, Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix, Mazda5 or even the PT Cruiser?

Oh and I agree about the current 3 series. I'm not a fan its interior styling at all either. Looks very odd.
I think that I just drove a bad A4. I drove an A3 right after it and I liked the A3 much better. I really wasn't in the market for a crossover and that's why I didn't check out the other crossovers that you have listed.

I really liked the styling of the HHR. I also liked its old school speedometer/tachometer setup. My decision, in the end, came down to the HHR and the Passat. I think that the Passat is beautiful. That being said, I thought the HHR was cool and it hauls all of my guitars and amplifiers with ease. I was willing to pay a tidy sum of money for a car. When I came across the HHR I felt lucky that I didn't have to spend as much as I was willing to spend. And, to date, I have traveled 4,700 trouble free miles.

Since you like your GTI (who doesn't like GTIs!) Maybe the HHR for you is the SS. I'm actually thinking of buying one of those too!

I bought mine last yr to replace my dieing Chrysler mini van. Looked at some used mini vans, but got got a heck of a finance deal on the HHR. I loved the looks of the HHR, so I went with it and have no regrets. And I got a full warranty, have room to haul my dogs when I want. Also, since my youngest son is thinking about going in the Service, I doubt I will be making yearly trips back to Pa to bring him out with me. In a nut shell, its like having a mini-van-car.
