Dont you just love one things just go defective when you least expect it. My Favorite is being on the cell phone and getting a call from someone that you hate to talk to and your trying so hard to get ride of them, but lucky for you there was this instant no signal spot.

 

Even though this thread is ancient, it helped me get this problem solved at the dealership where I just bought my 2010 HHR. The noise was driving us nuts and the description of the fan blade sliding up to make contact with other stuff was spot on for the sort of problem we had. I asked them to fix it as a condition of the deal but they hadn't been able to hear the problem, as they cranked the fan, and the noise is much worse in the lower fan speeds.

I went back after reading about the problem on a couple threads here, though, and asked them to look into it again, as it was the only irritating thing about my great new car... and when I mentioned I got info from this board, he said, "what do they say the fix is?" and I said "new blower motor", and he said "let me see what I can do". They got it signed off on as no charge to me and I have an awesomely quiet cabin.

I appreciate this board being here to help me feel like I know what I am talking about and be able to go to a good dealership and be taken seriously, even though, as usual, I couldn't get it to make the noise it made all the way there and all the way back when sitting in the dealer bay at all.
