I changed my oil at 1000 miles the first time. Sure it might be a waste of money. But I need to know that I have the a clean engine in light of it being new. I just don't trust the manufacturers of putting in an absolutely clean engine on the production line. Nothing is 100%. So, I now am more at ease knowing that it is to my liking.

I made a post the other day to answer Joe's (lokwaidid) question and forgot to post the thread I copied from the how to section. I swear I proof read my post before posting but maybe the proof in my glass I was drinking was too strong and I forgot. For all that are new to the HHR the following thread tells and shows how to change your oil and what tools you need.

what he said. I went to a motor oil seminar once, and the oil company (Pennzoil) still suggests changing oil every 3000 (which I do). I'd rather listen to the advise of the guy who sells me the oil (about $2/bottle?) than the guy who will sell me a new engine (a little more than 2 bucks)

I had to grind down my 1-1/4" socket a bunch for clearence. Maybe just easier to use a crowfoot socket

How do you reset the DIC for the Oil Life?

The quick way is to turn on the ignition (don't START the car). Push down and release the gas pedal twice, hold it down on the third time, the DIS resets in about 3-4 seconds.

Why wouldn't you just put The DIC display on "oil life" and push the reset button?
