But you do know who was listenening to it. If you got it with someone still paying for the XM subscription or a 3 month trial, that is your trial. When XM was new, I got a XM reciever off of ebay with subscription left. After it ran out, I subscribed to XM. If people did not deceive companies and/or steal products, the price of the items would go down. Theft/loss is factored into the price of products and ends up affecting the price to the consumers that actually pay for the product. Back to the regular thread in progress...

Honestly, if they havent figured out a way to prevent people from receiving FREE broadcasts...they must not be too worried about it, hence the FREE trial.

I didnt ask for the FREE trial...it just happened to be working when I stepped in to ownership...

Unfortunately, in this day and age, too many companies would rather screw the consumer...had i called XM and pointed out it was already working because the previous owner pre-paid a subscription...I promise you, they would have cancelled my radio, even though someone else was already paying for it. even though the got their money, they'd rather get more, then let someone get something for FREE.

I do agree that loss/theft is factored in to many prices of consumer goods...in this case, XM can cover their own bacon, as i am not in any hurry to let them capitalize on this one.

I'd have to say if anything, their prices are factored around all the thousands of FREE trial subscriptions, not a few people getting XM for free by means of deceit.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but if you have a subscription to XM you can listen to it on any PC also. You just go to XMradio.com and sign in. You will need your ID number. I use it at home and sometimes at work when I can get away with it.

Call and ask for the $77 a year deal. That's all it takes.

And if you import a car into Canada and subscibe, the rates are: 3 months-$44.97, 1 yr-164.98, 2 yrs-329.28, or for 3 yrs at 464.69. And the CAD is worth more than the USD, plus reception is poorer.

Don't feel sorry for XM. They bleed us for what they can get.

But not all stations are available online. Furthermore, many employers block it now because employees can't access the internet for work-related tasks.

They catch me when our bandwidth drops below acceptable levels and yes it sucks that not ALL the stations are there. Of course my favorites are the ones that aren't online.
