Anybody know of a V8/V6 transplant or a convertible conversion HHR?

With the proper skills you could probably do it yourself, but paying a shop might cost more than that.
Parts would include a camaro drivetrain modified to fit, rearranging gas tank and other components, making a new floorpan, new suspension.
After all that you might still end up with a nose heavy heap not suitable to drive on the track.

What's up guys? Dead serious about converting to a v8 ls3 if I can keep it under 20 grand. I'm gonna have the extra cash once I sell my home. I know some of you guys have really looked deep into this and have a lot of details. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Not just looking for a drag car, want it road course worthy as well. I was thinking of getting a salvaged hhr, do all the modifications to it and then drop the body on it.
You do realize that the HHR is not a separate frame vehicle, don't you? You can't just 'drop the body'. You have to stuff the LS3 into the body.......

Year Ones' V8 panel from the build-off in 2005
2nd pics just makes me smile..
Even if you found a frame, say from a jeep or shortened S-10.. To hide the frame rails, you would need to intensely channel the hhr body to hide them..
There have been many members come on & have this plan, haven't seen anyone do it tho..

I think you guys missed the hardest part. There is no tunnel on the hhr to accommodate the driveshaft,, and no room for a differential to sit.
year one, foose, mothers, and craftsman all built v8 powered panel clones. For a speed channel build off in 06. None of them were able to be titled because of the major corners they cut, during the two week build. They all chewed up the mono frames, without reinforcing what they cut. I bet after a few wot, the frames started to deform.
