Actually glad this post was brought back up, needed to get some floormats in my ride soon. I don't mind spending $100 for fitted floormats, it's generally a one time expense, and it does save your carpet down the road. With generic mats I worry too much about the "Toyota Syndrome." Not so much me, I'm sure I can think to pull it back in neutral if something happens, but if my wife's driving the car, panic might take her common sense away.

I've had the accelerator get caught under the mat in another car and I just stepped on the clutch and killed it. I know that is terrible for the motor, but better than a 3300lb wrecking ball!
