Ash tray ?

Did all HHR's come with the ash tray that inserts into cup holders? I just found one under the seat of my 3rd HHR.

Nope, but I took one from my old 2003 cavalier.

The RPO code list shows DT4 as the ashtray/cigarette lighter package.

My 2010 sticker shows that as standard equipment.

BTW, "cigarette lighter" is not the same as "12V accessory outlet". You cannot put a lighter element into an outlet receptacle with the expectation of lighting cigarettes.

If it was ordered with a "smokers" package, it came with the ashtray and lighter/socket. Mine came with it, but have no clue where the ashtray went.

Since I quit about 10 years or so ago, I don't give it much thought anymore, but I got a chuckle out of seeing the insert style ashtray when I noticed stuck u see the seat. I've only found 1 ashtray of the 3 HHR's we own, but all have the lighters in them.

These are pics of a "12 V accessory outlet". Not that if you tried a lighter in it the "Fahrenheit 451" part would make contact with Plastic. This would cause at least melting.

I would advise inspecting the receptacle before trying a lighter! All HHRs have 2 "accessory outlets", some have 1 cig lighter in the front instead. Maybe somebody has replaced the outlets, though. Hint: if it has a rubber cover attached to the bezel, it is an accessory outlet.

My HHR had a regular cigar lighter socket from the factory I think. Our PT Cruiser has two up front sockets one is a power outlet and the other is a regular cigar lighter socket.

In our Neon there was only one socket and it was a power socket so I bought a three way splitter thing that had two power sockets and one cigar lighter outlet and it worked real well. So well in fact that when my daughter broke up with her boyfriend he took it.

The new beau managed to break the socket three times. The first time he bought a new replacement power socket and I installed it, the second time he just *****ed and complained that it was broken until I replaced it. The last time he broke it I left it broken for over a year. Once he moved on I installed an old school cigar lighter socket I had in the garage for the last hundred or so years.

All our cars have functioning cigar lighters in them since I tend to smoke like a broke stove.

And don't give up, kudos for the effort. I quit 3 times before I was finally able to hang it up for good.
