New guy here. The wife bought herself an '08 HHR which means I gotta figure it out. Seems to be a nice enough car but mighty PC.

Since these things don't have an ash tray we are currently using one of those lidded cup type things sitting in the drink holder spot. That's an inconvenient location for even a can of pop let alone reaching back to flick an ash into.

There's gotta be other smokers driving HHRs. Did anyone come up with a good idea or mod for an ash tray that won't make a bloomin' mess in the car?

You have what was provided with the smoker package along with a cigarette lighter instead of a 12V auxiliary outlet (they are different). Finding any car made this century with an ashtray is a challenge.

 

No lighter, just an aux.

What I'm interested in would be what other smokers have done to create an ashtray in the critter. There's gotta be some good ideas out there somewhere.

I’ve only seen the flip lid ash cup in the cup holders in the console.

Thanks for the link. Looked through what was there. The 'stock' ashtray is really no different than what we are using now.

I did like that one that showed the ashtray mounted in the lid on the center of the dash but upon putting the woman in the driver's seat and checking her reach, well, I guess that ain't gonna work.

If anyone else has come up with an idea that takes the ash tray outa the cupholder please chime in.

As long the fan doesn't blow the ashes around... That location is iffy, in my opinion.

 

I'm glad I quit before I got my HHR. There is no good option I could see.

 

Gotta admit, so far there has been some kind of malfunction with each of the ideas that I've seen. I'm gonna keep scratching my head and thinkin' on the subject but I'm getting the impression that the HHR just ain't smoker friendly.
