It is broken, not backwards. Have you been speed shifting?

You should have equal lengths of that plastic strip, so that the shifting "gate" is covered whether you're in P or L.

 

yea...it's broken. I've seen a couple shifters on ebay...maybe you can find one, and just yank that part.

or...hate to say it...STEALER...I mean dealer...I would definately say that is something I'd fight for warranty coverage. If it wasnt a defect, You'ld have to go out of your way to break that...and who in their right mind would voluntarily do that just to spend time at a dealer?

 

or if your having the key stuck problem and still have warr. then just have everything replaced with new parts

 

I think I threw my new one away I might still have it. I had the key stuck issue being I had chrome trim on shifter console they left old one on car and new one on passenger seat with old chrome knob. Can anyone say suicide knob?
