i concur.

i found it very odd when i was searching for mine and i was using the chevy locator, i looked through at least 1000 different hhr's. I had it down to an approximate price to look at to know it was the options i wanted. However so many of them would be 1LTs, with the 2.4 added, running boards, chrome package, etc all added on. Yet it was not a 2LT, and it cost more then a 2LT, someone somewhere was getting ripped off.

As Hills and twistr stated, the 2.4 can be optioned in the 1 LT, as well as all the other options, but the sport tuned suspension (not the SS suspension) can only be had on the 2 LT.

The 1LT is basically a LS w/ the mid level radio (AM/FM/single CD player w/o XM). Everything else that is standard w/ the 2 LT is optional for the 1LT, except the suspension.

ok ,vvt

ok , i read that article about vvt. i understand what it does , but i am not exactly sure how it does it. it seems threre are different ways to do it. i am also curious how and what mods this would effect??? i have been thinking about building a 2.4 , at 270+ miles a day , if i keep this up i may need a spare. i also hope to have a different job that doesn't require all these miles on my hhr. so i may build my engine better than stock. i have also thought about adding the 2.2 turbo. i am just not crazy about turbos. don't they need more frequent rebuilding , than a non turbo??? i have seen 2.4s with 1400 hp , i am not saying you can't do that with the 2.0 turbo , or the 2.2. but i haven't seen one built this way.

How it does it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. In the Mazda when the program in the ECU determines that the timing can be advanced they open a valve on the cam cover, pump oil through it and allow the cam to move more than it would be advanced without the VVT engaged.

The reason it makes it hard to tune the motor up is that when your doing something like adding boost you need to reduce timing at various points and the VVT might be deciding to add it instead.
