Seems like a lot of people are suggesting adding a hitch and then your rack, but if you don't want to add a hitch since you didn't really list it as a suggestion, none of these are helpful.

i have a hitch rack for my jimmy, and it's easy to put on, but that's about it, nothing else is that great about the hitch rack. I'm really close to getting an HHR and then i have to decide how i am going to carry my bike again.

look at these two:

I would suggest finding a local bike shop and looking a little closer at them. They seem like they are going to be more secure, and do less (if any does occur with these types) damage to your car. The first one has really good reviews and i have seen it on a lot of cars. Plus i didn't stick the link on there but they also offer them in different colors for a bit more. The red HHR i was looking at would look great with a red rack.

they also sell tube adapters for bikes with odd frames, womens, full suspensions, etc. I have the one from nashbar (also a great bike site) and it works great for more then half the price of the thule one (which i also had and took back because the rubber coating wore down after 1 ride)

But if you don't want a hitch, try those out. I doubt i will be adding a hitch on the HH when i get it...

We looked at a schwinn 4 bike hitch receiver type tonight, and it looked pretty good. Sooooo... I'm thinking, I'm not really going to be towing anything. Certainly not my 5000 lb boat. So I'm going to start looking into hitch receivers that will fit on my SS and not look gaudy. Tx for all the inputs.

I was looking for options on rack systems for my HHR SS. It is slim to none since I do not have the factory roof rails. Neither Yakima or Thule sell a rack that will fit on an HHR without the factory rails. G.B.
