both my cars got keyed today ( non hhrs)

Today i discovered both of my cars were '' keyed'' on both sides of the car. Drove down the street and i seen every car and truck/van also keyed. Now i dont own a HHR, AND THIS is one reason why i have been holding off buying another new car.....too many vandals and thieves in my city. The 2004 honda i own has already had the tires and rims stolen off of it, somebody smashed a small boulder thru my front windshield, numerous little dents and dings from careless parkers and now 4 feet long key scratches on both sides. Police caught the guy responsible only 2 blocks away from my house. The police were doing a undercover stake out on the suspect as he is suspected of KEYING OVER 300-500 VEHICLES in the past 4 months or so. All i know is i will be out a $300 deductible and i wont get nowhere near as good as the original factory paint finish. What will the accused get? hhmmmm...did i mention the police were following him because they think its the same jerk-off responsible for keying hundreds of cars 3 years ago, when he was last caught? HERE IS THE NEWS STORY>>>http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-col...y-suspect.html

Down here the first time would have garnered him 5 years of probation and liability for restitution in each case. Second time would get him a probation violation, a 4 year prison sentence plus another 4 year trip to the pokey on the new charge running consecutive, unfortunately without restitution because that cannot be assigned when someone goes to prison.

It sucks, but that's why we have insurance and prisons.

Where I'm from, the vandal better hope the cops get him before the owner does. Getting beat senseless would definitely be in order.

Sorry to hear of this Almost no sense owning anything of value if you cannot protect it..
People suck at times. This is one of those times.

Before I had a driveway, we rented at an apartment complex. I got a new van and it was keyed the first or second night there
I can identify with your grief. Perhaps it's time to move to the suburbs?

Now that is the correct American Way before a jury lets him go because "he didn't realize he was that close to the cars with his keys"

'zactly. Skip the political correctness and the court system. Neither seems to work. Remember back in the "old days" you would be spoken to by the local beat cop for being an idiot, then get your a$$ kicked by pop when you got home because the cop had to speak to you? We need a bit more of that I think. I don't mean corporal punishment, but folks today are way too easy on kids.

~With a sharp, key-like instrument. All of his his victims line up and administer same damage to that MF'ers body. Start at toes, end at forehead. " Oh sorry , we didnt realize we were standing that close to him with our keys either "

Check out the anti car/anti-private ownership comments of some of the readers in response to the article - " pollution ...earth destroying...not a privilage.. suck it up it's just a piece of property"

This is the changing stance of some people today. Unfortunately you can expect to hear more of it as society turns more eco-friendly.

We will probably be the last or next to the last generation that will be able to afford/enjoy private ownership of vehicles.

I'm off my soap box and back to the topic at hand...Chooch I'm really sorry for what happened to you.
