However I was wondering how one would take off the bowties and if you can just take off the gold part. Thanks.

 

i just painted mine also, had to take them off with fishing line. Can not take off just the gold part its held together differently. the bowties are held on with 3M tape so you have to slide some fishing line in between the emblem and the grill or the beauty bar in the back. There are 2 alignment tabs on each bowtie to make sure you get it straight when you put it back on, but when taking them off since they are taped down you have to work around them the front emblem was the more difficult of the two to take off due to those tabs. Just take your time and be easy on the emblems when removing. I used 3M's emblem and badge clear adhesive to readhere the badges to the grill and beauty bar.
