To Buy HHR or Not to Buy
Hi all, new to forum, do not own a HHR but really thinking hard of getting one (because they are cool looking!). Reading a lot on the forum and do not see any big issues with them, good thing. Basically like the look, better gas milage than my current vehicle and you can haul stuff.
Questions I have are
1. Live in FL, get a lot of rain (sunshine state...ya right), is the sunroof a go or no go?
2. Haven't driven one yet but is the 2.4 recommended over the 2.2?
3. Is the cargo capacity good enough for you?
4. Never had leather seats so in a hot climate, leather or frabric?
There are only a handful in my area but one is a 2LT that seems pretty much loaded, 17 inch wheels, chromed out, bluetooth/mps radio, remote start, luggage rack, leather...for $20k (put link below). The rest are 1LT's or LS's.

I keep my cars until they die (currently driving a 1996), do you feel these cars will last and be pretty much trouble free?
Also, saw the people that are getting these way below msrp, how do you do that.
Thanks for any and all input,
Dave

Welcome to the gang, here's my take on your questions.
1. Sunroofs are nice if you use them, useless if you don't, they can leak as they age, and you do lose some headroom. I hardly ever open the one on my 2011, just slide the sunshade back for more light on gloomy days, HHR's do buffet with the roof open so you need to crack the windows at speed.
2. Both engines are sweet little units, the 2.2 in my opinion is a bit more eager than the 2.4, it seems more willing to rev. The 2.4 has more bottom end grunt off the line, but it seems less eager overall, slower to build revs. The 2.2 is in a milder state of tune so it can run Regular gas happily. The 2.4 is supposed to have Premium, and they are generally happier running Premium, although they can run on Regular with a detectable loss of performance.
3. No complaints on cargo capacity either with the seats up or down, I did manage to stuff 535 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies in the 2007 with a few cubic inches of room left over.
4. Up here in NC leather seats are real butt broilers in the summer, but the remote start option on the HHR allows you to set the A/C and have the vehicle cool itself off before you get across the parking lot.
Do your research to get the best price, check out kbb.com or cars.com and see what's available in your area. The HHR is going away very soon and dealers will be more apt to deal with you as they want to move them off the lot.
In my opinion the HHR is a very reliable vehicle, they aren't perfect but that can be said of any car, in my case I have had no issues and they run like Swiss watches.

"What site clowns are you referring to ??"
I was wondering the same thing, guy asks a question and gets a load of silly nonsense in return, maybe we should be helpful first....and then goof around after class.
