Well, mom just bought a brand new 2006 Chrysler Sebring convertible , and this would be my daily driver so she isnt going to be driving it much. She CAN drive a manual, she just doesnt think they are better. And the LT we looked at did have a bunch of upgrades (sound, wheels, etc) I have to say, I didnt really care for the wheels though. Although I found a nice black LS Automatic that we may go look at today.

Nothing wrong with an LS. Just not as many fancy extras. And black is the prefered color of choice according to recent polls! (Although I'm still partial to my Daytona Blue. )

Damn, she can drive a manual... I thought I was onto something there!

Don't be swayed too much about the options packages. Just make sure that the HHR you want is the HHR you get! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of the one you decide on!

Mom: Let the kid get a manual! (And save a buck or two)

Well I'm pissed, the Black LS I went to look at was just carted away before I got there. They are going to try and have one brought in that is either LS or 1LT that is black.

I have a Daytona Blue LS and love it. I always like the plain jane look.

I once had a stick shift Escort, great to drive when you`re moving, foot on fire in traffic. Never even considered buying another one after that. City boy!!!

Being a mom myself here.... I wouldent want to spend that much money for something my kid truely dident want.
If one is being generous enough for this type of 'gift', I think one should give what is wanted by the reciepant than what is wanted by the gift giver.

If the manual is what he wanted, and it's even less money even, then I tought my son right!
I'm with bisho1p on this one!

...and by the way.... kiddo!

Hey:
I always say never look a gift horse in the mouth. But as a side note, the Auto is rated at 23 mpg city and the Manual at 22 mpg, both 30 mpg highway ooppps... yea, read it here. But also I say always get what you want because you are going to have to live with it. Tough to side on this. I always let my kids get what they wanted, but they were paying for it . If i gave my kids a car they had better be happy with it, will be the last one . I used to love manuals too, until I learned to work on Automatics and started driving a lot. Automatic is the way to go, plus you get the added bonus of the remote start. You could have it running while you were getting your clothes on on those cold nights if responding to a call. Got a feeling Mom is thinking....Standard shift.....racing ......betcha? Oh well... any type of HHR would be OK, they are a fun little car to drive, just enjoy it if you get one, has a lot of features standard that are really nice to have.
