Had a chance to finally use the A/C and it was cold but not as cold as I thought. What should the temp be comming out of the air duct's? On one of my cars years ago I thought it was around 40 degrees. Any Ideas?

I'm wondering if what you feel is cold and what I feel as cold is different based on our geography??

I got the car on a weekend it was 107F and the AC has rarely been off since. I like it cool and there are times I think it is too cold!

So IMHO, I think it is cool enough.

Can't tell you what the exact spec is for the HHR but..........

Several years ago, 54-58 degrees from the middle vent, with the blower on high and the a/c on "Max Cold" was the baseline number. Oh, that was with a 92 degree ambient, in park or neutral, with nothing blocking the front of the vehicle.

The temperature probe needed a 8 inch stem.

Thanks , will check with thermometor this week. It just does not seem that cold.

Do you have it set to recirculate? I have found it never gets cold enough on the fresh air setting.

I agree with dbfruth. Mine works best on recirculate but I run it in normal for a few minutes first. It cools down within minutes on a warm, humid, summer day in Florida.

All the automobile A/C guys say cold air blowing from the vent HAS to get down to 52 degrees minimum. If it isn't that low, you have a problem. They use a small stem thermometer to measure the temp and stick it right in the center dash outlet.

Generally, isn't the A/C efficiency based on the difference from ambient temperature?
Ex: If its 80° out, the A/C should put out say...50°. If its 90° out, then the A/C would put out say 60°?

And you have to know humidity also.
